Subclass 143

Parent Visa (Contributory Parent, Permanent)

The 143 visa allows parents of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia permanently.

At least half of the applicant’s children must live in Australia or the applicant must have more children living in Australia than in any other country.

Sponsor

  • 18 years old or older
  • A settled Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen

Balance of Family Test

  • At least half of your children live permanently in Australia, or
  • More of your children live permanently in Australia than in any other country

You do not have to meet the BoFT if you hold a Subclass 173 Temporary Contributory Parent Visa or your subclass 173 ended in the 28 days immediately before you apply.

Family

You can include in your visa application:

  • Your partner
  • Your or your partner’s child or step-child

You must meet health and character requirements.
